Rubber Duck Christmas Tree

What hot tub soaker’s life is complete without a Christmas Tree decorated entirely with rubber ducks? Sunday’s Seattle Times featured a story in Pacific Magazine on a home with 12 decorated Christmas trees. The most important, for our point of view, is the rubber duckie tree in the bathroom next to the jetted tub complete with rubber duckie angel on top.  You have to do this next year! Meteor Shower and More in the December Sky-Be Sure to Watch From Your Hot Spring Spa!

The December night sky holds visual wonders-all the better seen from your Hot Spring Spa. The night of December 13-14 brings the peak of the Geminids meteor shower.  The moon will be out of the way and peak activity will be after midnight.  If the sky is as clear that night as it has been the last few nights, you many be able to witness as many as 100 meteors an hour!  Thanks To Rodney Ash a member of the Seattle Astronomical Society writing in the Seattle Times for this tip. Click the link for more on what to watch for in December while hot tub soaking.  The Seattle Astonomical Society is a terrific organization that sponsors monthly star gazing parties and information about the stars. A pair of binoculars 7- or 10-x-50s or a small telescope would make a great Christmas present for night sky viewing from the hot tub.

Toys for Tots Collection Continues-Friday, December 18th Last Day to Donate Toys

Here’s our Toys for Tots collection box in the Lacey Olympic Hot Tub Company store. It’s filled to the brim with toys. A man and his son brought in almost three huge bags of toys yesterday. They said that they’d asked that toys be brought by every guest at their holiday family party. And, the guests responded in a big way.

It is unfortunate that toy donations are down this year in a time of need greater than in any of the past few years. The Marines’ small staff of 20 is working almost 24/7 to get toys distributed to children by this weekend.

This Friday, December 18th at 3PM will be the cut off for donations of new, unwrapped toys in our Seattle store where your donations are  filling up a  Hot Spring Spa. We will not be able to accept toys after Tuesday in our other locations. Come see us and bring a new, unwrapped toy to our Seattle store: 1425 Dexter Ave N. We’ll be taking all toys to KOMO-TV’s toy pick up center at Fisher Plaza at 3PM on Friday.

Thank you for your support in this time of need for many in our community. We are grateful for the generosity of the hundreds of people and children who have donated toys for this Christmas season at our 5 stores.

Toys for Tots Event a BIG Success-Thanks to You!!

Our Toys for Tots on Saturday was a big success.  Generous listeners to KOMO & KVI drove over to our Olympic Hot Tub Company Fife and Seattle stores with enough new, unwrapped toys to fill a Hot Spring Spa in Fife  and almost fill one in Seattle.  Thanks to John Carlson of KOMO who donated his time and gave up his Saturday to come to the Fife store and greet the many loyal listeners who came out to meet him.  Tami Michaels of KOMO came down after her show ended at noon to meet her listeners, too.  Thanks to Ena Cooper our rep at Fisher Broadcasting for arranging the remote and all of the commercials to promote the toy drive.  Two U.S. Marines from nearby Fort Lewis came out to help and carry all of the toys away at the end of the day.

One young man-mid twenties-brought two toys and said he’d been out of work for 8 months, but that “You can’t forget the children.”  Two families came into Seattle with toys that their children had purchased with their own money.  See photos below.  Today, the Fife store had a call from a woman who has gifts and money for Toys for Tots. She said she had a birthday party for her child and instead of

gifts for the child…. they all contributed money for toys for tots…. $250.00 plus 2 toys!!!

Our neighbor across the street LouieG’s Pizza donated two pizza’s to the hungry helpers. The canadian bacon & pineapple was outstanding.  Thank you to LouieG’s. Excellent pizza New York style!! Thin crust; lots of topping; extensive menu with many choices. You’ll love his pizza. Give LouieG’s a try.

Saturday was a cold, but bright sunny day. Just the kind of day that makes your spirits soar.  My spirits soared at the generosity of so many people.  We even had a visit from Santa Claus who brought some toys. It was a perfect day.  The toy collection continues through December 18th. Donations are down this year, yet the need is greater than ever.  We’re doing all we can to urge people to donate new, unwrapped toys or money for Toys for Tots.  It is such a worthwhile thing to do!

We’re joining with the United States Marine Corps in support of Toys for Tots.  Come help us “fill the Hot Spring Spa“ by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the Fife Olympic Hot Tub Company store Saturday, December 5th. Don't Miss the Full Moon Tonight-Soak in Your Hot Spring Spa for the Best View

Tonight’s going to be a glorious night for soaking in your Hot Spring Spa. Clear and cold and a full moon, what more could you ask for? Native Americans called the December full moon the “cold moon” and tonight you’ll know why. The temperature will get down in to the 30s.  So warm those towels in the dryer before you slip out to take a dip. Do wear slippers or sandals to avoid slipping. Save the alcohol for after soaking.  Our Olympic Hot Tub Company customers tell us full moon watching is one of their favorite things to do. Enjoy!

Getting a good massage is one of life’s pleasures. It can be a necessity for some who experience chronic pain & aches. If you go straight to your massage without soaking in a hot tub first, you not getting the full benefit. By soaking in the hot tub before your massage for 15-20 minutes, you’ll enjoy a better massage. Your surface muscles will be relaxed by the hot water and the jets making it possible for the masseuse to work deeper with your feeling pain.  It’s easier on the masseuse, too,  if you’re warm and relaxed when you get on the massage table. Massages can be expensive. So, soak in your Hot Spring Spa before your massage and make it even more worthwhile.

A Good Hot Tub Cover Makes A BIG Difference
