Valentine’s Day Hot Tub: Hot Tubbing Together Keeps Intimacy Alive

Here’s a timely message for Valentine’s Day. Hot tubbing keeps intimacy alive. It can be nearly impossible to carve out alone time with your spouse or significant other.  Ever had the experience of trying to set up a date with your spouse with both of your calendars open? That may be hard in many two-career busy lives, but almost everyone can make time for a relaxing soak together even if it’s only 15-20 minutes.

“Touch in that barrier-free water absolutely increases desire, sexuality and communication,” Mantell says, adding that he often prescribes a hot-tub soak for couples in marriage counseling. “Nobody has an argument in a hot tub. People relax, they laugh, and the playfulness comes out.”

The soothing effects of the hot tub and the hum of the jets allow you to communicate better and enjoy each other. “There’s no other place that has the physiological [effect] of breaking down the social barriers that exist between people,” Mantell says. “It literally relaxes you psychologically.”

I’ve heard from many of our Olympic Hot Tub customers that  having a hot tub saved their marriage. Take a tip from hot tub owners and Dr. Mantell:  soak in your hot tub tonight to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Thanks to Pool & Spa News for the interview with Dr. Mantell.

What’s HOT for In-Home Relaxation? Salt Water Hot Tubs and Saunas!

What’s HOT for in-home relaxation in 2011? It’s all about making relaxation as easy as possible. It’s about easy water care for hot tubs. It’s about having a sauna at home for all of the great health benefits.

Come see us at this weekend’s Bellevue Home & Lifestyles Show. We’re showcasing the hottest products for your home to make relaxation easier and easier.

We’re featuring the Hot Spring Spa Vanguard and the Hot Spring Spa Jetsetter-our two best selling models in our booth.
The Hot Spring Vanguard -our favorite big tub-which is a roomy, luxurious space for 4-6 with a multitude of jets.

The The Hot Spring Jetsetter is the perfect spa for 2 and its small footprint makes it ideal for small yards and town homes.

The biggest news: our water care options which are exclusive to Olympic! All of our spas come with SilkBalance for water care. It’s being adopted by savvy hot tub owners everywhere because it gives you soft, smooth skin, no odors or smells AND there’s no testing or mixing. You only need to add SilkBalance and a small amount of sanitizer and that’s it. Water looks better, smells better and feels better! Clean, clear water without all of the old hot tub hassles.

An option on all Hot Spring Spas and Limelight Hot Tubs is the NEW ACE Saltwater Sanitizing system which gives you salt water bathing at home! No chlorine needed and you’ll have soft, smooth skin. For virtually hands-free water care, it’s the ACE salt water system!

And, what’s the hottest thing in home improvement? Finnleo Saunas! The Finnleo saunas we’re bringing are the, PS-44 and a B-200.

The Passport PS-44 is a wonderful traditional steam sauna that simply plugs in! The B-200 is one of most popular models of infrared saunas. With a footprint of only 16 square feet it seats 1-2 comfortably.

Here are a couple of reasons that saunas are growing in popularity: sauna use has been shown to reduce colds and flu symptoms as well as be beneficial for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.

Any blog post that mentions  SEX is sure to get attention. Take a look at this blog post about why people are being advised to install an infrared sauna in their master bedrooms. Better than Viagra say infrared sauna owners!!

So come see us this weekend at the Bellevue Home & Lifestyles Show.

Want to Boost Your Intelligence?! Do This in Your Hot Tub!

Want to boost your creativity and intelligence? Read on! In a recent study as reported in the January 8th Wall Street Journal, Israeli researchers compared how 40 people performed on a 25-item test requiring considerable linguistic inventiveness. Before the test, some people squeezed rubber balls—hard—with their left hand, an activity known to stimulate the brain’s right hemisphere, which, in turn, is associated with creative patterns of thought (though creativity is not confined to any single part of the brain, as the authors were quick to note). Others squeezed with their right hand, and there was also a control group.

The left-hand squeezers got an average of 12.5 questions correct on the test, compared to 8.4 for the right-hand squeezers. This led the authors to conclude that selective hand-clenching can “can greatly influence the outcome of the thought process.”

Why not try squeezing a stress ball in your Hot Spring Spa for maximum effect? You’ll have the benefit of increased circulation due to the hot water and a few minutes to concentrate your efforts.  It can’t hurt and you just might  come up with a big “Aha!” to solve a problem.

From: “Unilateral Muscle Contractions Enhance Creative Thinking,” Abraham Goldstein, Ketty Revivo, Michal Kreitler and Nili Metuki, Psychonomic Bulletin & Review”

Start Howling! See the Full Moon Tonight from Your Hot Tub

It will be clear tonight. Can you believe it? Take a break in your Hot Spring Spa to relish the beauty of the first full moon of the year-the Wolf Moon!

Full moon names date back to Native Americans tribes of the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. The entire month was named after the full month in which each occurred. There was some variation in the Moon names, but in general, the same ones were current throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior. European settlers followed that custom and created some of their own names. Since the lunar month is only 29 days long on the average, the full Moon dates shift from year to year.  From the Farmers Almanac we get the moon name for January:

Full Wolf Moon – January Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January’s full Moon.  Ancient peoples thought that the moon on a clear night in January showed a picture of a howling wolf.

Drop whatever you’re doing tonight at 9:23 EST; 6:23 PST when the full moon is at it’s peak. The best place to be when viewing the full moon? Soaking in your Hot Spring Spa.

Get ready to howl if the mood strikes you!

Take Winter By Storm-Install Your Hot Tub Now

Weather forecasters are warning Puget Sound residents to plan now for a colder, wetter and snowier winter…and the possibility of snow by the end of this week.

With a La Nina weather pattern bringing more cold weather to the region-think snow-you’ll want to be prepared. For the scary stuff on how to cope,  go to a new website prepared by King County, the City of Seattle and Puget Sound Energy: Take Winter by Storm.

For the fun way to cope, come to Olympic Hot Tub and really take winter by storm. Are you ready for snow?  Install a Hot Spring Spa now and you’ll be set.

1) Ease those tired muscles after skiing. You’ll be skiing a lot more this winter. Don’t miss the fun or overdo on analgesics to cure aching muscles. Soak in your new Hot Spring Spa!

2) Enjoy the outdoors from the unique vantage point of sitting in hot, swirling water. The quiet during and after a big snowfall is so intense you have to be sitting still to appreciate it.

3) Overcome the gloom brought on by too few hours of daylight. Soaking in a Hot Spring Spa releases endorphins-the body’s feel good chemical-that are designed to improve your mood and lift your spirits.

4) Warm up if you’ve lost power and have no heat. Even if your power goes out, you’ll have hot water in your spa for at least a few days.  Soak for 10-20 minutes without the jets to warm up if you’re without heat. This really works!

5) Make snow angels after you get out of the tub. Or not. The choice is yours :-) .

Winter hot tub soaking brings it’s own joys. Don’t be without the #1 way to cope with a snow storm this winter: a Hot Spring Spa. Old Confucian saying: The wise person will install his Hot Spring now while the delivery crew can get to his home.

Christmas Eve? Well, We’ll Be in The Hot Tub

Christmas Eve after we’ve unwrapped our presents, we head to our Hot Spring Spa to talk and share our memories of Christmases past, our loved ones and our hopes for the future. The hot tub is the best place to relax after the hectic pace of the last few days. And, being in the hot water seems to bring out deep feelings of gratitude for all we have- how fortunate we are to have a great staff, wonderful customers, support from vendors and family & friends.

The chill air is a perfect contrast with the hot water swirled by jets. It may be clear skies tonight-fingers crossed-so we can watch for satellites, shooting stars and, the only constellation we know: the Big Dipper.  Maybe share a drop of  Proseco. We’ll heat the towels in the dryer and they’ll still be warm when we get out.

It’s truly hot tub bliss! What better place to celebrate the season and give thanks for all we have?  Happy Holidays to all. May your New Year be bright and prosperous.

Holiday Stress Getting You Down? Solution: Make Time for Your Hot Tub

Holidays stress getting you down? Stress builds up when you feel you’re too busy, don’t have enough leisure time to relax and unwind, or enough “quality time” to reconnect with family and friends.

These feelings can certainly be exaggerated during the holidays. How to cope? Make time to use your Hot Spring Spa for quality time, improved health, stress reduction and rejuvenation this holiday season. Here are some tips to inspire you to use  your hot tub more often:

Romantic Getaway
Leave a note for your loved one suggesting a rendezvous after work..in your hot tub! Light candles, play some quiet music and enjoy each others company alone under the stars in the privacy of your own backyard.

Family Retreat
PTA meetings, soccer games and ballet lessons…can’t seem to spend enough time together as a family? Arrange for a “meeting” in your hot tub-it’s the perfect place to reconnect and talk about the day. Children grow up before you know it. Spending some time with your teenager in the spa can open up long closed lines of communication many Hot Spring Spa owing parents say.

Star Gazing Haven
Your outdoor spa provides the perfect front-row seat under the stars. Don’t waste a clear night in Puget Sound this winter when you could be watching the constellations. Get the Star Walk app for your i-phone and you’ll find get to know every star in the heavens. Go to the Stardate website to see what’s in the night sky week by week.

Workout Therapy Center
Warm water exercise is a gentle way to exercise joints and muscles. The buoyancy of the water reduces body weight by 90% relieving pressure on joints and muscles (perfect for people affected by arthritis or fibromyalgia). Water also serves as resistance to help build muscle strength.

Wake-up Call
Enjoy your spa in the morning with a cup of tea or coffee. Just 10 minutes at 102°F will energize you. Stay in longer and you may start to feel too relaxed to “get up and go”.  Many spa owners prefer winter wake ups in the spa to ease gently into their day. They report that watching the birds and enjoying a short “nature break” before beginning their hectic schedules makes them feel better all day.

Your Space for Solitude
Being alone to think and regain your emotional equilibrium is the best antidote to holiday stress. Your spa is the perfect place to relax, “do nothing” and get away from it all.

Greet the New Year
Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? The #1 answer for Olympic Hot Tub owners is in their spa in their own backyard. Soak in heavenly peace and quiet in your own HOT SPRING SPA. Contemplate the year ahead as you compose your resolutions.
